Hello Families (Skill Dev Program for non -travel girls lacrosse) -
We're getting excited about the start of another great lacrosse season that will kick off in a little over a month on Friday, April 9th.
We look forward to welcoming past players and families and are thrilled that we have added many new players to the team.
Most of last year's coaches will be returning, and we are very happy that we have a few new coaches as well.
Our practices will run as follows:
We'll start with a quick warm-up, some light stretching then break up into groups to spend approximately 35 minutes on various fun drills that will help to teach and
hone stick skills and ball work.
We will spend the remaining 45 minutes in small groups going over basic positioning, offensive and defensive strategies, and then have the opportunity
to do some 5 on 5 scrimmaging.
A FEW REMINDERS:
The Skills Development Team will be starting on Friday, April 9th, 6:00-7:30pm.
The location will most likely be Upton Field on Milton Academy's campus.
This is the field that we mainly practiced on for the past 2 years.
It's located near the intersection of Voses Lane and Centre Street.
IF by some chance this changes, we will notify families as soon as possible.
EQUIPMENT:
Girls are required to have:
* A regulation girl’s or women's lacrosse stick.
* Approved lacrosse goggles. You can check the US Lacrosse Goggle Page
website for more info.
* A colored mouth guard.
Gloves are optional. Look like soccer goalie gloves. DO NOT get boys'
gloves.
Sturdy athletic shoes are a must. We recommend cleats as the fields can get slick
with spring weather conditions, but sneakers are fine too.
NO Crocs, Teva's or sandals of any kind will be allowed on the field.
Please come to the first practice ready to play with the required equipment.
We suggest using the bathroom before leaving home as there is no available
facility nearby.
Everyone should bring a water bottle.
WEBSITE: Please check the Milton Youth Lacrosse website: www.miltonlacrosse.org for updated information now and throughout the season. You are able to update your personal info on the site at any time with your password.
UNIFORMS:
The site should be available until midnight March 7th. The orders will be shipped to MYL for distribution during the first practice. (shorts & jerseys for travel teams only)
The last practice will be on Friday, June 4th.
We will hopefully conclude our season by participating in a Lacrosse Jamboree with some other surrounding towns.
Details to be announced at a future date.
We are still looking for any volunteers to coach or to help out on the sidelines. Again - no prior lacrosse experience is necessary.
So if you've been considering getting involved in any way - please feel free to contact me.
Thanks for signing your athletes up for Milton Youth Lacrosse.
We look forward to seeing you all soon!
